A songwriting class: two students at a stage piano and keyboard at the front of the room, the rest watching from tables, with melody, lyrics, chords, structure and expression listed on the whiteboard

Music composition combines imagination, musical thinking and sound expression. Students develop theory, rhythm, melody and harmony while learning to turn ideas into structured, original compositions.

The course takes students from an initial musical idea to a completed original piece, building creativity, aural skills and musical literacy along the way. Selected works can also be professionally recorded and produced into a finished music video (MV).
